St.Luke’s is hiring! Full time Temporary Community Center Assistant

St. Luke’s Anglican Church and Community Centre (located at 3114 Dundas Street West, Oakville) is hiring a Community Centre Assistant responsible for the coordination of activities and events at the community centre as well as community engagement and front desk service.

This is an onsite, full-time (35 hours per week, pending funding from Canada Summer Jobs), temporary position for 16 weeks.

Outline of Responsibilities:

  • Is proficient with computer programs and can help build social media presence
  • Assists in promoting St Luke’s Church and Community Centre activities
  • Effectively becomes familiar with and involved in the community
  • Nurtures relationships among neighbours, community groups, and partners
  • Ensures consistent excellence in public relations, and customer service
  • Assist with food bank and additional community programs and events
  • Weekly maintenance of the St. Luke’s Rain Garden
  • Greets and provides hospitality to guests
  • Schedules the community use of facilities and acts as liaison with user groups
  • Supervises, supports, and recognizes volunteers
  • Undertakes cleaning when required
  • Assists with maintaining outdoor gardens

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Experience with marketing, event planning and social media building
  • Possesses good interpersonal skills: a people-oriented person, committed to teamwork
  • Behaves in a manner that builds trust and demonstrates sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Displays excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Displays excellent computer technology and network skills
  • Has knowledge and experience with concepts and techniques of community development
  • Possesses excellent oral and written English language skills

Terms of Employment

  • This position includes work on Saturdays and weeknights
  • A valid Criminal reference check with vulnerable sector screening is required
  • Candidates must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and between the ages of 15-30 to qualify
