Assistant Community Center Co-ordinator Summer Student Positions

We’re Hiring! 

St. Luke’s Anglican Church and Community Centre located at 3114 Dundas Street West, Oakville, exists to nurture and inspire the human spirit in each person, and to bring neighbours together as a diverse and thriving community. These positions are responsible for the coordination of activities and events at the community centre as well as community engagement and frontline service. 

These are full time positions, at 35 hours per week for 8 weeks each. Start dates: June 1 – July 24, and July 6 – August 28

Outline of Responsibilities:

  • Assists in promoting St. Luke’s Church and Community Centre activities
  • Nurtures relationships among neighbours, community groups, and partners
  • Ensures consistent excellence in public relations, and customer service
  • Schedules the community use of facilities and acts as liaison with user groups
  • Supervises, supports and recognizes volunteers
  • Assists with completing registration, maintaining accurate records, and preparing written reports as requested
  • Undertakes cleaning and maintenance of perennial gardens when required
  • Looks after keys and security

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Experience with marketing, event planning and social media building
  • Possesses good interpersonal skills: a people-oriented person, committed to teamwork
  • Behaves in a manner that builds trust and demonstrates sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Displays excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Displays excellent computer technology and network skills
  • Has knowledge and experience with concepts and techniques of community development
  • Possesses excellent oral and written English language skills

Terms of Employment

  • This position may include work on Saturdays and weeknights
  • Satisfactory police check required before employment begins
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the job;  legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulation
